Message for students: A mid-term note of encouragement

Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021

Dedicated students,

It’s hard to believe that we have already passed the mid-point of the fall semester. Mid-terms are now behind us and Halloween weekend is upon us, along with many opportunities to socialize. Thanksgiving break will be here before we know it. We are also in a much better situation in terms of our management of COVID-19 than we were at this time last year. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to keep your classmates and campus safe!

For those of you who did well on your mid-term tests and projects, congratulations and keep up the good work! For those of you whose mid-term grades were not quite what you had hoped, please know that you are not alone. I vividly remember times when my mid-term grades were below par. Believe me, I know how some of you are feeling right now.

The good news is that mid-term grades are not final, and plenty of help is available to help you turn things around. Our academic support team is ready to assist with advising and tutoring. Our student well-being team offers a range of programs and services to help you during stressful times. There’s also a handy online reference guide to help you find the support you need. And there’s an app to help you manage your well-being, Sanvello, which is available to all S&T students through Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

Our counselors, advisors, tutors and health care professionals stand ready to support you at every stage of your academic and campus life journey. Now that mid-terms are behind you and the final stretch of the semester lies ahead, it may be a good time to check out some of the resources listed above if you haven’t already done so. Even if you just need to talk to someone, we have counselors available to listen.

I want you to be successful at Missouri S&T, and we have support and services in place to help.

Please remember that no matter how you feel today, things can get better. As they say, hang in there, and I look forward to seeing you around campus.

All the best,

-Mo.
