North Star Goals

Missouri S&T’s strategic vision is focused on achieving three “North Star” goals by 2030:

Attain

Attain Carnegie R1 classification (very high research activity) as determined by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. This is the highest classification for doctoral universities. Missouri S&T is currently classified as a Carnegie R2 (high research activity) doctoral university.

Grow

Grow enrollment to 12,000 students (8,000 undergraduate students and 4,000 master’s and Ph.D. students). Missouri S&T’s enrollment as of fall 2021 was 7,245 (5,700 undergraduate and 1,545 master’s and Ph.D. students).

Achieve

Achieve a top 100 ranking among national doctoral universities as measured by U.S. News & World Report. Missouri S&T is currently ranked 179th.
