Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), one of the nation’s leading STEM-focused research universities, seeks a Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications to lead the university’s marketing efforts to elevate the reputation and visibility of S&T regionally, nationally and beyond.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor is a strategic leader at the university level. The Vice Chancellor serves on the Chancellor’s leadership cabinet and is responsible for developing all marketing and communication strategies for external constituencies as well as internal communication strategies that support a cohesive and well-informed university community. The Vice Chancellor also serves as the university’s chief spokesperson and principal liaison with the news media and manages all communication aspects of crisis and issues management.
Marketing and communications initiatives under the direction of the Vice Chancellor include brand awareness and ad campaigns, media relations, university publications, interactive and digital marketing, social media, video production, photography, and implementation of market research and market segmentation strategies. With seven direct reports, the Vice Chancellor will manage a diverse, talented staff of 28 to ensure successful execution of those efforts.
The Vice Chancellor will lead the continued rollout of a new brand platform, Solving for Tomorrow. The platform builds on S&T’s traditional strengths in STEM with a greater emphasis on multidisciplinary learning, intentional collaboration and developing an entrepreneurial mindset among all students.
